Shea butter is a very nice base for making balms, creams and lotions. It hydrates, protects and stimulates the cell renewal of your skin. It is also rich in vitamins A and E.
Shea butter can effectively help with dry skin, wrinkles, pregnancy stretch marks, dark spots, scars, cracks, eczema-like skin and supports the restorative capacity of your skin.
This shea butter is sustainably produced, extracted naturally and the only refining it undergoes is upon arrival in the Netherlands, where the shea butter is filtered for stones, dirt and dust.
For thousands of years, women have been extracting shea butter from the nuts of the Shea Tree Vitellaria Paradoxa. The trees grow in West Africa. The women collect the fallen fruits and let them dry in the sun. The women who make this shea butter are part of a women's cooperative in Ghana. In this way, the traditional way of working is maintained in a sustainable and fair manner.
Shea butter has a fairly high melting point (31°C - 38°C) and provides firmness, but also some softness to your mixture. In addition, shea butter also provides the extra smoothness, texture and stickiness of your homemade product.
TIP: If you don't like the 'earthy' smell of shea butter, take a look at mango butter or Monoi De Tahiti Oil.
NOTE: Do not use when you have any nut allergies. An alternative could be mango butter.
