Washing soda is used for cleaning. Washing soda (sodium carbonate, Na2CO3), not to be confused with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), is extracted from the ashes of plants and seaweed. It can also be found at the bottom of temporary lakes, which ebb away as soon as it gets too dry. An environmentally friendly product compared to regular cleaning products.
Washing soda is an extremely versatile household product. Your laundry will be extra clean, your oven will look like new again, it will help prevent blockages and your silver cutlery will shine.
If you have stains in your laundry, such as berry juice, blood, ink, tea or coffee, fill a bucket with warm water and 100 grams of washing soda and let your laundry soak for 2 hours (or overnight). Then put it in the washing machine as usual.
To clean your oven, fill a bucket with hot water and add a cup of washing soda. Brush up!
Washing soda is also ideal for preventing toilet blockages. Sprinkle some washing soda into the toilet and flush immediately. This way you keep the toilet and the pipes clean for longer.
Let your silver jewelery and cutlery soak for fifteen minutes in 4 liters of warm water with a cup of washing soda. Then rinse everything well with cold water and rub with a microfiber cloth.
TIP: Washing soda can also be used perfectly for cleaning your old / empty oil bottles! You can read here how to do this.
Caution: May cause serious eye irritation.
